Pastel pink, blue, and green wedding cake
This bride took a piece of 4 of my cakes to come up with this one and added butterfly's last minute. I love when girls choose to do nontraditional wedding cakes. I did take a picture of it in their set-up which was a lot prettier than my kitchen table but my camera does not take good pictures in church buildings. This was a lot of fun to put together!

Damask wedding
This cake is the reason I even bought the stencil (yes, it's been planned for a while). It was a fun change to do it on a square cake. The gal who ordered it made the styrofoam squares dressed in ribbon for the bottom of each of the tiers. What a difference it made in the height of the cake. So pretty.

Purple and green square wedding cake
WHEW!!!! I have to say, I am a bit proud of myself for this cake. It has had me scared for a while and I can't believe I pulled it off. It's my biggest real cake to date-and by a lot. It was so heavy! This was a milestone in my decorating career. I LOVE how it turned out and the colors and flowers were so fun. It just came together so nicely. Half the cake is red velvet and half chocolate. Pictures could have been better-the lighting wasn't terrific and I didn't think to move the boxes.

Cool flower wedding cake
Credit for the flowers belongs to a cake friend of mine who came up with them. They were pretty easy and look way cute on a cake. Happy with how this turned out.

Fallish Wedding cake
It's been a long time since I had a consult with this couple. I completely forgot there was going to be a topper. So the first picture is what it looked like before I had to alter it a bit to include the topper. I was concerned this morning when I realized there wasn't as much height on the top as I would have liked. I'm glad I didn't worry enough to do anything about it. Ha ha! This cake quite literally matched the decor perfectly! I was happy with the way it turned out. Oh, and the filling was a new one- chocolate cake with cream cheese and cherry filling. Holy deliciousness.

Less is more...
Black and white wedding. Very chic. I seriously love doing the big fondant bows. So pretty. Other than it being square, it is definitely one of the simplest cakes I've done.

Carnival Wedding Cake!
FUNNEST. CAKE. EVER! A carnival wedding, seriously, how cool? And this couple was just so darn cute. I was so happy to make their cake for them.
This was the most time consuming and difficult part of the cake. It's hard to find "carnival/circus" font that you can customize but then it gets worse finding one that will do letter's, number's, AND symbols. It also took me a while to figure out the right words to google to find the shape for the sign. Anyone wondering, it's "bracket shape". It's printed on edible paper with edible ink. Cool huh?
I had to snap a few pictures of the decor. My first love is the cookie. My very close second is candy. This is my dream table. :)
Center pieces. Just adorable. Congrats to the happy couple!

Peridot and Ivory
I learned with this cake that I am still learning. It's the first time I've had an order with different shaped tiers which leads to my mistake. I didn't consider that squares are bigger than rounds when I was making the cakes. I did my usual 12"-9"-6" sizes but in actuality, I should have either done a 10" round or a 5" square for the top. It turned out that the top two tiers were closer in size from the bigger one so at angles, it wasn't looking up to par. I was so mad at myself for not thinking of that. I guess that's where experience kicks in but learn from me and don't make the mistake I did. The other challenge with this cake was making peridot. If you look online, there are a million different shades of peridot. The bride didn't have anything for me to use to match the right green so I had to decide what I thought peridot was. I grabbed a peridot necklace I have that is a true peridot stone and copied it. I really like the color and thankfully, her flowers had this exact green in them so it didn't clash like I had dreaded it might. What a challenge this one turned out to be. Oh, I did quilting for the first time also. I also learned I need better tools.

Black, white and red wedding with XBox
Cakes with dark piping are so scary! There is no room for error unlike white piping because I can just wipe it off and start again. Thankfully I didn't run into any problems. This cake matched the decor so beautifully. This family did a great job hiding the "cultural hall" look. You honestly couldn't tell.
This was the grooms cake. I had never heard of such a thing but the bride surprised her die hard XBOX playing hubby with it. The guests coming to the reception just laughed. They knew it was a cake just for the groom. :) Wish I had thought of it for my husband. He is playing right now as I am posting this. Boys!

Square white on white wedding
I made this one like a weekend or two ago. This was my biggest square cake so far (size-wise, not tier count). The wedding was on a Friday so Thursday I covered and decorated the bottom tier. I got the hardest part over with, right? It was a dummy cake so I set it up high on a counter. The next morning while I'm at work my husband calls to tell me he's got some really bad news. My two boys had destroyed my cake! I had set it out of their reach and of course asked my dear husband how that happened. He said they were being quiet so he didn't bother to disturb them and later found them on top of a chair chowing down on the fondant. Any of you mother's out there, knows that anytime there is quiet in the house, except for sleep times, there is a disaster happening and needs your immediate attention. Lesson learned to Brian. So yes, I got to redo the biggest cake I had done all over. Luckily it still all worked out.

White on White Wedding
I LOVE this one! I wasn't given anything specific on how to design the cake and I really went back and forth on what do to because I knew the bride was very simple. I was going to do just all dots but I really wanted to try a different design on each tier so I went with that (obviously). I did not deliver it to the reception so I wasn't able to get a picture with the decor and flower's on top but hopefully I will get a better picture and repost.

Black and Green Polka Dot Wedding
Isn't life so easy when someone picks the identical cake you've already done? Finding the right green was the only tricky part with this one but luckily, this wedding had many different shades so the cake didn't stand out like a sore thumb. I loved the flowers for this wedding. So pretty! I also decided I needed to invest in a round cake stand. The size of this cake is standard but it seems small for me. Some height makes all the difference.

Polka Dot Wedding
Sweet and simple! The flowers on top are arranged pretty nicely right? So was not I who did that. I love when I'm not the one responsible for the flower part-I'm so not good at it!

Pink and Green Wedding!
These are the best wedding colors ever!! I was way impressed with all the decorations at this reception-so pretty! This was the biggest of any of my cakes. To give you an idea, the top two tiers are the size of my regular 2-tier cakes-I know, right? We had to buy an extra fridge to fit all the pieces (we needed one anyway, how I've done cakes this long without an extra fridge is beyond me). This is supposed to be a tilted cake but it's kinda hard to tell in the picture. Half the tiers are strawberry cake and half are white. We even made one white cake green with white filling and another white cake with green filling. So crazy fun! I've been up passed midnight this whole week baking, making fillings, and putting decorations together. Plus I had the other two cakes which didn't help. Whew! After only getting 4 hours of sleep last night my husband asked how I can stay happy and I really think it's because I really enjoy making cakes and having that relief that I did something and it turned out. Congrats Clint and Michelle!

Wedding #2
This is my second wedding cake (I don't count the princess one only because I helped with it. It wasn't my customer). Thank heavens for my clay extruder because I don't know how I would have done this cake without it. This was another order where the bride knew exactly what she wanted. I wasn't quite sure how the teal would look with sunflowers but everything seemed to come together pretty nicely. They did a great job decorating for the reception and the cake went perfect with it. One thing I did learn-my white cake is way easier to do square with than my chocolate. I really like doing the wedding cakes. It's fun to be a part of someones big day and I like meeting all the people.

Team Scaredy Cats and the Princess Bubble Yum Cake
Yes my friends, this is a wedding cake. A friend of mine asked me a couple months ago if I'd help her with a giant scary cake in May. I of course said yes (how scary could it be?) and she recently sent me a picture of the cake we were to replicate and I really didn't think I could help because it seemed way beyond what I was capable of. Well, both of us along with her sister in-law spent the week putting together this cake. It was a challenge and we really didn't like it as we were decorating but it grew on us and I'm pretty proud of us. We called ourselves the 3 scaredy cats because we don't consider ourselves professionals but we took on a difficult cake. My friend also mentioned at one time that the cake looked like the bubble yum bubble gum so that's what I've entitled it. Also, this cake was huge! the bottom tier was 22" by 8" high! And no, none of it's real (thankfully). I had a blast ladies! Thanks for the experience!

My First Wedding Cake!!
Finally! My first wedding! As simple as this cake sounded-3 tiered, ivory cake with white flower's around each base-it was extremely time consuming. Yes, I sat a made each of those roses. Of course I left most of it until last night and then underestimated the amount of roses I needed and scrambled a few more minutes before the event. Thankfully I made it with time to spare. I hope it was what the bride was looking for. Thanks for trusting an amateur to make your cake! :)
