Peridot and Ivory

I learned with this cake that I am still learning. It's the first time I've had an order with different shaped tiers which leads to my mistake. I didn't consider that squares are bigger than rounds when I was making the cakes. I did my usual 12"-9"-6" sizes but in actuality, I should have either done a 10" round or a 5" square for the top. It turned out that the top two tiers were closer in size from the bigger one so at angles, it wasn't looking up to par. I was so mad at myself for not thinking of that. I guess that's where experience kicks in but learn from me and don't make the mistake I did. The other challenge with this cake was making peridot. If you look online, there are a million different shades of peridot. The bride didn't have anything for me to use to match the right green so I had to decide what I thought peridot was. I grabbed a peridot necklace I have that is a true peridot stone and copied it. I really like the color and thankfully, her flowers had this exact green in them so it didn't clash like I had dreaded it might. What a challenge this one turned out to be. Oh, I did quilting for the first time also. I also learned I need better tools.
