AAAnnnnnnddddddd, we're complete

Miss Mayzee was born on 11/12/12, 7lb 10oz 20". We love her so much! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Now let's bring on the new year! I think I am ready to start taking cake orders. Looking forward to making some cake!

Wedding cake with lots of piping

I didn't deliver this one so I don't have a good picture at the moment. This was also the first time I did sheet cakes. I didn't know what I should charge but I learned from this what it costs me and what it would be worth for my time. It is significantly more than a costco cake but I don't buy wholesale or make a million at a time of them with giant Hobart mixers and ovens. Sooooooo, the cost is $75 a cake. They serve between 65-80 people.

Tinkerball

I am fully against real toys on my cakes but Tinkerbell is no easy thing to make with sugar. I caved.

Owl Cake

Someone actually sent me a picture of this to make for their granddaughter and I loved it so much I decided to do it for my own little girl! Owls are so cute!

Hounted house birthday

My son found one similar online and wanted it exactly. Out of all my options, I didn't love the one he picked but if it makes him happy (which it did), I'll do whatever he wants.

Fun Dino cake

I thought doing a cute dino cake without the normal dino landscaping was so fun. I especially love these colors! I can't believe this little boy is one already-and he is completely adorable!

Jake and the Neverland Pirates cupcake toppers

I got the coolest order this last week! Someone from Texas asked if I could make her Jake and the Neverland pirates cupcake toppers. I never thought of doing something like that but I learned through this that there are plenty of etsy shops of people who sell fondant toppers. Thinking I might set up my own account. I loved having an order where all I did was the fun part. Hopefully everything makes it to her in one piece.

Pink and purple double baptism cake

I am so excited with how this turned out. One little girl likes pink and the other purple. They are cousins who shared their baptism day together. I thought this cake turned out so sweet! I really LOVE doing ruffles. I know before I start that is will probably be cute because ruffles are just so fun and always cute.

Sugar and Spice Cake

I helped a friend make this one. Such a darling baby shower theme!

Bridal Shower

This is a smaller rendition of one I did a little over a year ago. I love the damask with this color green. So pretty!

29+11 Birthday cake

This cake was so cool and of course I forget to take a picture. This will have to do and I'm glad I at least have something. I thought it was so funny that we weren't celebrating a 40th birthday here. It was a 29+11 birthday. Ha ha!

Minnie Mouse cake

I love doing skirts on cakes. This was simple and fun!

Spiderman Cupcakes

Thank you edible marker for making these possible! I'm not sure what I would have done without it. My boys were drooling over these.

Girls Baptism Cake

This girl is not into pink so we did blue. I love how it turned out but sadly, it did not arrive this way. It was the first time I made a cake that had to travel far (Tucson) and the mixture of all the components weighing it down on the top and the hot long drive, it collapsed on itself. :( Thankfully, I have very nice friends and they were very sweet about it. At least I have a good picture of how it was supposed to look.

Detroit Tigers cake

This was the first cake I've done with German chocolate filling. I've never been a fan of it but I found an awesome recipe (or at least, I think so) and now I love the stuff.

"All things wheels" cake

Remember that Hawaiian themed cake I did for those twin boys? Can you believe they are already 2 now?? So crazy! This cake was so fun! I bought these vehicle cutters a long time ago and finally got to use them for the first time.

Circus smash cake/cupcakes

This was a very last minute order. I think a circus theme for a kids birthday is such a cute idea!

Steam punk and rainbow cake

This was for my sister who I guess is into "steam punk". Never heard of it? Me neither. But I have to say, steam punk cakes are super cool.
She had also requested several months ago that I do a rainbow cake. It was so exciting to cut into.

Pool side birthday cupcakes

My picture taking has really fallen short. I loved making these. I usually don't decorate with things other than fondant but I thought these were cute and what kid wouldn't love a piece of candy and a cookie on their cupcake?

Polka Dot Cake

This was for my bestie. She loves polka dots and other girly things. The cake and filling were her favorite- chocolate cake with peanut butter butter cream and peanut butter cup candies.

Angry Birds cake

This is the extent to what I can carve and I still didn't carve it exactly as I wanted but this was seriously such a fun cake!

Train Cake

I completely forgot to take a picture of this one. This little boy picked out his cake online and we recreated it with his colors. I'm discovering that trains are very popular among small children. I've done a few train cakes now.

Aston Martin Cake

The original request was to do the entire cake as this car but I am not that confident in my cake carving skills so we did rice treats instead. It's hard to see the details in the picture. I was just happy it at least looked like a car. When my husband walked in and said, "oh cool, an Aston Martin", I was pretty happy for that. :)

"Monkey in a tree" cake

If it isn't obvious, this is based off the kids song about monkeys in a tree and an alligator. I really wasn't certain how this cake would turn out. I was very happy with the results. I Love the softer colors. This was for another friend of mine who happens to be sisters of the friend from the Spiderman cake. They have a big family so of course there are cousins with birthdays that fall on the same weekend. Oh, and the smash cake was gluten and dairy free. I enjoyed making this cake for this sweet little girl.

Spiderman Cake

I love these bold colors. This was for the son of a friend of mine I've known since Jr. high (gotta love Facebook). My sons were drooling over this cake. I delivered it to Tempe and they insisted on driving with me even though they weren't getting out and it would be over an hour in the car. It was a lot of fun seeing old friends and driving through the neighborhood I drove through so many times as a teenager.

Damask with Yellow Flowers

I get so nervous when I'm asked to put real flowers on a cake. Definitely a skill I need to work on. I don't do a lot of these big cakes and I forget how much work they are. The damask was extremely time consuming but turned out so pretty. The yellow flowers look really nice against it as well. Now, onto another busy cake weekend.

CTR Cake

Other than the cake is a bigger size, this was the identical order as last year but for a new class of kids. She is a way nicer primary teacher than me for sure. So sweet of her to give these kids a party during this fun time in their lives.

Pre school Cake

My oldest graduated pre school. Here is the cake I made for him and his little classmates. It was such a cute little ceremony.

Vintage Nautical Baby shower cake

Loved making this cake and cookies! I'm still new in the cookie department and I think these are my favorite ones I've done so far. I didn't like cookies originally but I'm starting to really enjoy them (making them I mean, I've always LOVED cookies).

Chameleon Cake

My middle child turned four this weekend. He designed this cake completely. He wanted everything to be green and for there to be a mommy, a daddy and babies.

Mother's Day Cake

I found this idea online and really had no choice but to make it. I was disappointed that my execution wasn't nearly as flawless as the one I copied (I really need to start using modeling chocolate) but no one had seen the original anyway.

ASU Grad Cake

The gal who ordered this one found me all the way from North Carolina! Crazy! She was one of the sweetest people I've ever met. They preferred the darker burgundy look with pearlization. If you're wondering if the cap is to one side on purpose, it is. They wanted fresh Cali Lillie's bundled up like a scroll next to it. I should have taken a picture with them.

ASU Graduation Cake

Lot's of ASU graduates looking for a cake this year. This client preferred the flowers to be scattered instead of the cascade look.

Pink Ruffle Cake

I love making this one!

"Gamorous" Birthday cake

I made this a while ago. For those who haven't heard, my husband is in Germany for work right now and finding spare time to update the blog is hard to come by. You can't tell in the picture but the back of this cake will probably earn a spot on Cake Wrecks. Around the cake are cute girly words-one of which being "glamorous" or should I say "gamorous". Yes indeed, I did that. Thankfully, it was the back of the cake and everyone was very sweet about it but still. Pretty embarrassing! Other than that, I love this one!

I can't believe it's been one year since I did this fall wedding cake!!! They wanted me to recreate the topper for their anniversary. I still need to try this flavor- Chocolate cake with cream cheese and maraschino cherry filling. Yum!

Blues Clues Cake

I wanted to do all the characters until I saw there's like 50 of them. Okay, not really but there are a lot. I think Blue in his chair at the top turned out cute.

Hawaiian Cake and cupcakes

These were made for a girl whose wish (for "Make a wish") was to go to Hawaii. They threw her a party and surprised her with the arrangements to go. What a cool organization.
