Blues Clues Cake

I wanted to do all the characters until I saw there's like 50 of them. Okay, not really but there are a lot. I think Blue in his chair at the top turned out cute.

Green Ruffle Cake

For my mom's birthday this year, I wanted to make something pretty and something I had never done before. I would love to make this in other color combos.

CTR Cake and cupcakes

Despite your religious preference, "Choosing The Right" is always a good thing! I love this acronym/symbol and everything it stands for. The fact that it is also green-the color in which I am slightly obsessed with-makes it even more special for me. This cake was to celebrate the birthdays of a class of kids turning 8 this year. I had so much fun making the little shields for the cupcakes! The cake was for the party and cupcakes to send home. What an awesome teacher! Those kids are lucky to have her!

Shark/Chameleon Cake

This was a first for me-one cake, two themes. One was for a boy who loves sharks. The other for a girl who loves chameleons. This was a rare instance where it came out better than I imagined in my head. I am in love with the chameleons. They are by far the cutest lizard and they were so much fun to make. Then there are 3 different sharks, great white, hammer, and tiger. Super cool! Okay, no weird combos for those of you thinking about it . Like, no farm animals/ballet type deal. :)

Pink, black and white 40th birthday

Last but not least, this fun 40th birthday cake. I love the party bows but I really need to get some more practice in with them. They can be pretty tricky. Most of my cakes this week were lemon which was odd. I usually don't do that much lemon but I have to say (I'm sure Ive said it before) it is my favorite flavor. I usually can't resist the scraps. All were filled with raspberry preserves. So good.

Horde Cake

Most of you are scratching your head, right? This is a symbol from a computer game. No offense, but I hate computer games (except solitaire) more than almost anything. However, I am grateful my brother in-law likes them. I really needed his cake to be easy this week and that it was.

Sushi Cake

I was so excited when my sister had the idea of a sushi cake for her birthday. I LOVE SUSHI! Seriously, I love it so much I learned to make it on my own. I've got cook books if anyone is interested. I'm not even sure how long this took me because I was having so much fun making it. I only wish I could have done a thinner but wider table but that would have made a huge cake. Happy birthday Shelli!

Inspired by Huggies

This one was for one of my coworker's who is one of the best people I know. Since it wasn't an order, I had complete freedom to do whatever I felt like. I bought these new Huggies wipes packs and the striped design on them is really cool and that's where I got the idea for this cake. I had most of these colors made already but for a smaller cake, it took a lot longer then I thought it would. Dainty though, isn't it?

Ocean Cake

I can't believe this is my first ocean cake. Well, I've done one but it was butter cream. I've been looking forward to putting this one together and it was loads of fun. It was for one of my nephews and he loves whales and the ocean. All the kids could barely keep their hands off it long enough for me to slice a piece of cake with a fondant sea creature on it. :)

Ladybug 4th of July

I really drew quite the blank with this one. This little girls birthday was being celebrated on the 4th and ladybugs are her chosen theme but since it was on the 4th, the goal was to mesh the two together. It was hard to think of something that wasn't going to look too cheesy. Like a blue ladybug or something. I really like the stripes on the bottom and it seemed to work out and of course I thought of some cute ideas after the fact but that's how it goes sometimes. Still very 4th of July and topped with a cute ladybug.

Star Wars Cake

Man, this cake took forever! The cake was obviously for a Star Wars fan who specifically liked Darth Vader. I was going to try and mold a little Darth and add other things like the light sabers and stuff but then I thought it would be cool to do a big cut out of his face. I was happy I got it all cut out and together but it took quite a bit of effort.

Bug cake

My baby turned 2 yesterday. He is OBSESSED with bugs and spiders. He loves when there is a fly in the house because he will chase it and catch it! How many of us can catch a fly with our bare hands? I guess the real question is, how many of us would want to? I was going to do a giant spider on the top but we are moving this weekend and most of my pots and things are packed. Glad I managed to make a cake for my boy though. The kids loved picked off the bugs and eating them. Fun fun!

Reptile Cake

Cute huh? I debated doing a more realistic reptile cake like with the dessert seen and more realistic looking snakes and lizards but it was for a 7 year old boy and colors are just way more fun. The green one on top is my favorite. I'm sure there's a lizard out there somewhere that looks like him. :)

Animal Farm Cake

I was so excited to get this order! There were some other animals and a tractor I wanted to add but there's not quite enough room for anything else. I loved assembling this cake. It was more like playing than work. And of course a smash cake for the little one year old. I thought a pig pen was appropriate. :)

Poker Cake

I was thinking "wow, card cookies, that would be so cute!" and so I agreed to make them and then I realized, "wait a minute, that's going to be really hard." Typically, for decorative cookies, I would use royal icing and pretty much paint the cookie but I decided painting cards for a royal flush would not only be too time consuming, but wouldn't look very good either. Thankfully I have my little frosting printer and even though it gave me some grief and I went through several sheets of frosting paper, I finally got it to print some cards for me. And since I used that, I could use the better tasting butter cream for the icing. Also, I didn't realize you can't paint dyed fondant with white. I just couldn't get that to work right. Close up the chips are a bit sloppy but they look great far away. :)

Elmo!!

What kid doesn't love Elmo? My cute little nephew turned 2 and had an Elmo birthday. This Elmo came out a little "plump" but it was easier and cuter than I thought it would be. I think I like the Sesame Street sign the best though. Happy birthday Klayton!

Monkey's 1st Birthday

I haven't done a lot of sculpting with fondant but I think my monkey turned out pretty cute. I also really like the bananas. I think this was a perfect cake for a little boy turning one. My boys were both so excited when I made it and were asking for it after the cake was gone. Like I always say...way fun!

More than meets the eye...

This cake order is one of the funniest I have gotten. The request was for a transformer cake, specifically the Bumblebee Transformer. Obviously I assume it is for a 3 year old boy but then I'm told it is for a 29 year old female! A group of adults getting together for a children's party. I think that is so cool! To go with the woman cake, it of course had to be all chocolate-chocolate cake with ganache and some peanut butter Twix. Sounds so delicious!

Safari

So cool! I wish I could take credit for the idea because it is so creative. Ever since I saw this cake, I wanted to make it and I finally got the opportunity. This was for my friends sons 3 year birthday party. The cake went perfect with the safari theme. I think this may be my new fave! Thanks Chels!
