I KNOW!! I'm in love with this one! I wasn't going to take any orders for December but when they said they liked animal print, I had to do it. It was supposed to be a two tier but I had some extra batter and I very badly wanted to make it 3. I want to do more like this-hint hint. :)

Train cake
When I made this cake in August, I didn't think I had done a very good job of it. We last minute added my nephew to my father in-laws birthday party and of course the little 3 year old had to have his own cake. So in an hour, I concocted this. I never took a picture but found this on my sister in-laws FB page the other day and decided it's pretty cute for the amount of time I had. Ha ha!

Harlee's Blessing cake
Today was a great day-blessing our baby girl. I decided to venture out and make a cake. I have really enjoyed the break but I realized how much I actually do miss my little hobby. This cake was super easy and I love it. It's very simple and pretty just like my daughter. I also tried a new filling, mint chocolate chip (idea from a fellow "caker"). I will add it as a new option.
So, I was thinking I'm ready for cakes again. I will take order's for and starting in January. Not sure if I should do the calendar again. Did anyone like that or was it more annoying then anything? I think my price increase last year slowed me down enough to not need one but I was curious if anyone cared. Prices will remain the same.
Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Ladybug Cake
This one I did a week or two ago. I've been lazy getting it on here. I've done this design before. It is really cute and fun. I also did a smash cake the shape of a ladybug but I accidentally deleted the picture. Now baby time. Looking forward to our new addition and hopefully I can get back to cakes soon!

I am Iron Man- nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
Me and my boys sing that tune all the time. It's so cool. Iron Man is HUGE in our family and my poor Jaxon thought this cake was for him. I think the black with the flames makes it such a boy cake. I got to see the 5 year-old's reaction to it. He was so stinking cute!

Pink, red and brown bridal shower
This cake mimic's two wedding cakes I did similarly. I would never think to put these three colors together. I really liked this cake and it was my two favorite flavor's- strawberry and lemon. I can't get enough of the scraps when I carve. I should be getting a picture of it with flowers on top.

Colorful Sweet 16
Are these colors not so fun?! I love it! The flower/ball thingy's were to match the decor. I really like them and they were so easy and fun to create. Oh to be 16 again...such a fun time.

Monkey cake
My husband said my monkey looked more like a mouse. Supposedly the ears are a little big. WHATEVER! I like big ears! Again, the banana's are my fave. I had a great idea after I was done with this cake. Wouldn't it be cool to flavor the banana's? I know they sell flavored fondant but how cool would it be to bite into a banana flavored-fondant banana?

Skirt Scake
I saw this skirt design on another cake and so wanted to use it! What a fun cake for a one year old! And in case you can't tell, those are supposed to be balloons on the top tier. It's part of the decor for the party. Anyway, I loved this cake and will probably do something similar for my daughter's 1st birthday. Yes, for those of you who don't know, I'm expecting my 3rd child in October and it's my first girl. Yay!!! Also explains why my last couple of months are closed (for those of you wondering).

Ladybug Lucy
I threw my first baby shower yesterday and it was so much fun! I love trying new things and seeing it all come together. This cake was made after hours of decorating cookies so it didn't turn out like I'd hoped but it sill looked great with the party. The ladybugs matched the cookies and I'm hoping someone got pictures of the cookies because I didn't but I'll post them later if I can get some. This shower was for my sister in-law whose giving me my first niece. I have 5 nephews so it's exciting to add a girl to the mix!
Found a picture. Don't they match perfect with the cake? I don't get the opportunity to make these types of cookies with the detailed decorating and I wasn't sure how they would taste with that kind of frosting but they were shockingly good. I'm glad I sent most of them home with people or I would have gained 5 extra pounds! Cookies are my biggest temptation-even more than cake.

Sushi Cake
I was so excited when my sister had the idea of a sushi cake for her birthday. I LOVE SUSHI! Seriously, I love it so much I learned to make it on my own. I've got cook books if anyone is interested. I'm not even sure how long this took me because I was having so much fun making it. I only wish I could have done a thinner but wider table but that would have made a huge cake. Happy birthday Shelli!

Another reptile cake
Pretty much the identical of a previous cake but I made the reptiles a little bigger to fill the cake space up. I also added the smash cake. My boys stayed up late with me to watch me make it. They're obsessed with these creatures!

Sister Graduation
This is an old cake but I just got the picture of it. My last sister to finish high school graduated from Mountain View (don't judge, I went there too!). This next year, she starts college at ASU. So I did an "out with the old" "in with the new" type cake which included both schools. Shelli is an awesome girl and I'm super proud of her!

Tiffany blue and Beige Bridal Shower
I've done white on white before but this was the first time using another color. I like how it turns the cake a little more elegant. What a pretty blue this turned out to be.

Inspired by Huggies
This one was for one of my coworker's who is one of the best people I know. Since it wasn't an order, I had complete freedom to do whatever I felt like. I bought these new Huggies wipes packs and the striped design on them is really cool and that's where I got the idea for this cake. I had most of these colors made already but for a smaller cake, it took a lot longer then I thought it would. Dainty though, isn't it?

Ocean Cake
I can't believe this is my first ocean cake. Well, I've done one but it was butter cream. I've been looking forward to putting this one together and it was loads of fun. It was for one of my nephews and he loves whales and the ocean. All the kids could barely keep their hands off it long enough for me to slice a piece of cake with a fondant sea creature on it. :)

Fireworks!
My sister in-laws birthday is on the fourth. Naturally, her cakes usually run that direction. I love this design and would love to use it again with maybe a different color background or something. I just think it's super cool. Oh, and I finally decided I should start buying red and black fondant instead of dying it each time I needed it. Holy cow! I'm kicking myself for not doing that sooner. It's a little pricier to do that but so worth it!!

Ladybug 4th of July
I really drew quite the blank with this one. This little girls birthday was being celebrated on the 4th and ladybugs are her chosen theme but since it was on the 4th, the goal was to mesh the two together. It was hard to think of something that wasn't going to look too cheesy. Like a blue ladybug or something. I really like the stripes on the bottom and it seemed to work out and of course I thought of some cute ideas after the fact but that's how it goes sometimes. Still very 4th of July and topped with a cute ladybug.

Star Wars Cake
Man, this cake took forever! The cake was obviously for a Star Wars fan who specifically liked Darth Vader. I was going to try and mold a little Darth and add other things like the light sabers and stuff but then I thought it would be cool to do a big cut out of his face. I was happy I got it all cut out and together but it took quite a bit of effort.

Peridot and Ivory
I learned with this cake that I am still learning. It's the first time I've had an order with different shaped tiers which leads to my mistake. I didn't consider that squares are bigger than rounds when I was making the cakes. I did my usual 12"-9"-6" sizes but in actuality, I should have either done a 10" round or a 5" square for the top. It turned out that the top two tiers were closer in size from the bigger one so at angles, it wasn't looking up to par. I was so mad at myself for not thinking of that. I guess that's where experience kicks in but learn from me and don't make the mistake I did. The other challenge with this cake was making peridot. If you look online, there are a million different shades of peridot. The bride didn't have anything for me to use to match the right green so I had to decide what I thought peridot was. I grabbed a peridot necklace I have that is a true peridot stone and copied it. I really like the color and thankfully, her flowers had this exact green in them so it didn't clash like I had dreaded it might. What a challenge this one turned out to be. Oh, I did quilting for the first time also. I also learned I need better tools.

Green and Brown Baby Shower Cake
This was for a friend of mine who is having her second boy. His future name is Strat (cute huh?). I thought these colors were awesome and the shower was of course over the top cute.

Bug cake
My baby turned 2 yesterday. He is OBSESSED with bugs and spiders. He loves when there is a fly in the house because he will chase it and catch it! How many of us can catch a fly with our bare hands? I guess the real question is, how many of us would want to? I was going to do a giant spider on the top but we are moving this weekend and most of my pots and things are packed. Glad I managed to make a cake for my boy though. The kids loved picked off the bugs and eating them. Fun fun!

Ivory wedding with roses
Sheesh! I have got to stop forgetting to take pictures. I have an excuse for this one though. When I delivered the cake, the reception hall hadn't been decorated yet so they had to put it in the fridge. I should have just taken one before I left or while it was in the walk-in. Hopefully I will get a picture of this one because it was pretty.

Reptile Cake
Cute huh? I debated doing a more realistic reptile cake like with the dessert seen and more realistic looking snakes and lizards but it was for a 7 year old boy and colors are just way more fun. The green one on top is my favorite. I'm sure there's a lizard out there somewhere that looks like him. :)

3rd times a charm
Bad picture, I know. I wasn't even sure if I should post this cake since I've already got one identical to it. Sadly the decorating portion of this cake fell on an unexpectedly BUSY day for me so my creative juices were not working for me. I'm not sure how else to do this cake but if I get another order for one, I will for sure try to mix it up a bit. It's still a classic though.

Black, white and red wedding with XBox
Cakes with dark piping are so scary! There is no room for error unlike white piping because I can just wipe it off and start again. Thankfully I didn't run into any problems. This cake matched the decor so beautifully. This family did a great job hiding the "cultural hall" look. You honestly couldn't tell.
This was the grooms cake. I had never heard of such a thing but the bride surprised her die hard XBOX playing hubby with it. The guests coming to the reception just laughed. They knew it was a cake just for the groom. :) Wish I had thought of it for my husband. He is playing right now as I am posting this. Boys!

Laser Tag
This is another one I forgot to take a picture of. I am awaiting one but this was for a little boy who had his birthday at Laser Quest. It has been years since I've done laser tag and there were literally no good ideas to use as far as cakes go. So I thought of this one.

Present Wedding Cake
I don't have a picture for this one yet. I like to post my cakes in the order I made them (I'm just weird that way) so I thought I'd put at least this so I can add the picture later. Anyways, this is one I helped a fellow cake maker decorate last week. It was so fun and so easy to work with a friend on a cake. Wish I could do it more often.

Square white on white wedding
I made this one like a weekend or two ago. This was my biggest square cake so far (size-wise, not tier count). The wedding was on a Friday so Thursday I covered and decorated the bottom tier. I got the hardest part over with, right? It was a dummy cake so I set it up high on a counter. The next morning while I'm at work my husband calls to tell me he's got some really bad news. My two boys had destroyed my cake! I had set it out of their reach and of course asked my dear husband how that happened. He said they were being quiet so he didn't bother to disturb them and later found them on top of a chair chowing down on the fondant. Any of you mother's out there, knows that anytime there is quiet in the house, except for sleep times, there is a disaster happening and needs your immediate attention. Lesson learned to Brian. So yes, I got to redo the biggest cake I had done all over. Luckily it still all worked out.

Hulk Cake
So, the very night after I made this cake I got SUPER sick so I forgot to take a picture and me and the boys totally missed the party. :( I liked this idea I found for the Hulk theme. The only other idea was to do a fist and I was too nervous to create a giant green hulk hand. I was waiting for a picture of the cake but found this on my friends blog and loved her sons expression in the picture. What a cutie!

Handy Manny
This was ordered just this week so it was a little last minute and I had no clue what "Handy Manny" was. When I looked it up, I was really scared because there are a lot of character's and how do you turn it into a cake? If I had had enough time, I would have gone a full 3D version but I decided to attempt this and whew! It was so hard. Luckily I already had most the colors made but the detail was so tedious. It took forever! A funny note, this was for a 13 year old girl! Cracks me up.

White on White Wedding
I LOVE this one! I wasn't given anything specific on how to design the cake and I really went back and forth on what do to because I knew the bride was very simple. I was going to do just all dots but I really wanted to try a different design on each tier so I went with that (obviously). I did not deliver it to the reception so I wasn't able to get a picture with the decor and flower's on top but hopefully I will get a better picture and repost.

Easter Birthday Day
My little nephew turned one on Easter. How often does that happen? Naturally, we went with the Easter theme. The basket was actually much easier than I thought. Plus, the more fondant the better for these rugrats. :)

Another Twilight Cake
The only trouble I had with this one was trying to make it different from the last. So, it is a little different but I kept all the same components because they are part of the theme and they look cool. Looks like I'll need to read the books from the comments I got last time...

Chicago Cubs Fan
I last minute (about 10pm last night) decided this cake really needed a helmet. I wish I had had that thought before yesterday because a helmet is not a last minute project. Plus, I'm not even totally sure what a football helmet looks like. I was a little surprised I managed to get it to work but it's a little sloppy. For a cake that really only has 2 colors, it was quite difficult but the colors are way cool!

Hello Kitty
Precious! I love all the pastel colors for two reasons. One, because they're pretty of course but also because they are the easiest to make. :)

Jungle cake
This was actually last weeks' cake but I forgot to get a picture so I had some sent to me. I think I may do that with some of these cake from now on because I like seeing the cake with the decor. It looks so much better to me. This one took surprisingly longer than I thought but at least fun and different. I guess boys cakes CAN be just as cute. :)
